Frequently Asked Questions

Please read below for the answers to some of the most common questions that are asked by our clients.

What is Web hosting?

A web hosting service is a service that allows websites to be accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server owned or leased for use by clients, as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. All of the files that compose a website will be “hosted” on a server to make the website function. Every website needs a hosting account in order to be live and accessible.

What is a domain name?

Domain names are used in URLs to identify particular Web pages. For example, in the URL https://www.abcwebservice.com.com/index.php, the domain name is ‘abcwebservice.com’. Your domain name will point to your hosting account to pull your website’s files from the server and in conjunction with your hosting account make your website accessible.

Domain names are also popularly known as “website name” or “website address.”

Every domain name has a suffix that indicates which top level domain (TLD) it belongs to. For example: .com, .net, .org, .biz, etc., etc.

Can I have my own email accounts?

Yes! We give you unlimited top level E-mail addresses with any of our hosting plans, so you can have an E-mail like: yourname@yourdomainname.com.

What is considered a page within a Website?

Please note that a Web page is not the same thing as a Website. A Website is a collection of pages. A Web page is an individual section within your Website. For example, your Home page is considered a page, as well as any other pages you might have on your site, such as “About Us”, “Services”, “Contact”, etc. etc.

What is a responsive website?

Responsive web design is an approach to web design aimed at designing websites to provide an optimal viewing and user experience across a wide range of devices -from desktop computer to mobile phones. The idea behind responsive design is that the site will automatically adapt to fit the screen of the device it’s being viewed on. It is becoming an industry standard, and on April 21, 2015, Google announced that it will boost the ranking of mobile-friendly websites on mobile search results (http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2015/04/rolling-out-mobile-friendly-update.html).

Do I own my website?

Absolutely! Once your Website is completed, paid for, and live it is 100% yours. We can even give you a copy of your Website if you ask us for it.

Can I get a copy (backup) of my website and its files?

Yes, as long as your account with us is in good standing, we will gladly give you a complimentary backup of your Website if you asks us for it. There might be a small fee if you request additional backups, but the first one is always free.

How long does it take to build a website?

Since our websites are custom and every project is different, the time to build a website varies greatly between projects, but it usually takes anywhere from 3 to up to 10 weeks.

Do I need to sign any contracts?

No! At ABC Web Service we like to keep our customers because they are happy with our work and not because they are tied to a contract. We do not have contracts, no strings attached. However, we do require you to sign the quote and agreement that you will receive from us prior to beginning a project. That’s just to protect both parts, we want to make sure that you understand exactly what we will be doing and how much it will cost.

Are any of the costs refundable?

No. We are very clear about our prices, terms and what we will be doing, so none of our costs are refundable. Plus, we put a lot of time and effort into each and every project, so we really doubt that you will ever even think about asking for a refund.

When is payment required?

For most projects, 50% of the quoted price must be provided prior to beginning work.

I see you are based in South Florida, do you just work with local South Florida-based clients?

Although most of our customers are based in Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Palm Beach and Miami, we have the ability to work with customers across the nation and even internationally, as we have done in the past and present.

What is a CMS System?

A CMS Website gives you the ability to update your website’s content from any computer, you just need a browser and Internet connection. There’s an administration section where you will login to make the changes you need.

Can I update my website or do I need to contact you?

If you have a static website and no HTML and CSS knowledge than you will need to contact us. However, if you have a CMS website you can update it yourself and we can teach you how to do it.

Who do I send website edits and updates to?

You can E-mail us directly or fill out the contact form on our contact page. Plus, you can always call us. Although, we might require you to send us an E-mail for extensive updates.

Is a Custom Designed Website really that much more valuable than a good Website Template?

We usually don’t recommend the use of templates, but they may be appropriate in certain situations. For example, if you absolutely must have a site launched within a few days, or if you are on an limited budget, a template might be an acceptable short-term solution. However, these instances should be an exception for the following reasons:

– Many templates are not search engine friendly.

– Many templates don’t look exactly like their demo, out of the box and require a lot of time to make them look like the template you saw before buying it.

– Most templates do not lend themselves to quick or easy changes. If you require design modifications, it’s vital to understand that they can substantially increase your total cost.

– Templates purchased from the major online vendors may be used hundreds or even thousands of times, even by your own competitors.

– A cookie cutter design doesn’t attract much lasting attention.

– Good design is a reflection of your business, your strategy and your audience, which can be essential in achieving your online goals.

Difference between building a website with a DIY Website Builder and a professional, custom designed website?

Difference between building a website with a DIY Website Builder and a professional, custom designed website?

The main difference between a DIY Website and a Custom Website is that a custom website gives you the opportunity to design a website that reflects your business and is appealing to your specific audience, while with a DIY website you are getting a very simplistic, cookie-cutter design that doesn’t reflect your business and doesn’t look professional. Remember that first impression is essential on every aspect of our lives, especially business.

Also, most DIY website builders don’t give you the possibility to make many modifications to your site in the future and are not always as easy to use as advertised. On top of all that, the vast majority of websites done with a website builder are not search engine friendly.

Also, in most cases, you don’t own “your” website, meaning that if you stop paying them you’ll lose your website.

All in all, we consider build it yourself websites to be a waste of time and money, based on our experience and our customer’s previous experiences with such systems.

Can I get images off of Google Images or “the Internet”?

We do not suggest that you grab images from Google, a particular Website or just from anywhere on the Internet unless they are your own images or you have written permission to use such images on your Website. Copyright infringement can result in an unnecessary headache that’s easily avoidable by using your own images or buying stock photography from websites that sell royalty free photos at a reasonable cost. We will be glad to recommend you some stock photography websites if you ask us.

What is an EPS file or a vector format?

Vector graphics files store the information that make up an image, making your graphic resizable to virtually any size without losing quality. This is important because the type of format you use for your logo affects image quality and manipulation.

When doing Pay-Per-Click, can competitors click on my ads and use up my PPC budget?

Google has tracked clicks by IP address and only charges you for one click per IP address each month. The vast majority of invalid clicks on Google Ads are caught by Google’s filters to prevent fraudulent clicks. These filters are constantly being updated and react to a wide variety of traffic patterns and indications of click fraud attacks. Bing and Yahoo use a similar system for their Bing Ads PPC service.
